Meet Our Candidates
Joyce Green will be a fresh face on the School Board and will bring new ideas and solutions to the table. She will put kids at the heart of every decision on the School Board. She is an executive with real world experience who has worked in HR and administration in several major agencies and organizations. She has served on a wide range of boards with large fiscal responsibility. She will help the School Board utilize resources to empower teachers, meet the needs of students, and bring much needed change.
As a first term member on the Charleston County School Board, Kate Darby has led the charge to improve our schools and make quality education more accessible for all children in the county. She has taken on the status quo and has consistently put our families and teachers first. She has served in various leadership roles in the community, including with School Improvement Councils at public schools her children attended. Kate understands the role of the School Board and is working for positive change.
Rev. Eric Mack is the pastor at Bethany Baptist Church downtown. A resident of Wadmalaw Island, Rev. Mack has spent his career helping families and mentoring young people. As a data analyst at MUSC, he knows how to spend money wisely and make every penny count. Rev. Mack is focused on improving achievement outcomes, ensuring all schools are safe, and that job training and life skill programs are available for all students.
Cindy bohn coats
Cindy Bohn Coats understands that in order to provide a quality education to every child, the School Board must be responsible with tax dollars, reduce waste, and spend more on classrooms and less on bureaucracy. Cindy spends her time listening to the concerns of parents and constituents from across the county and is committed to reform.
